As a seasoned professional with over twenty years of experience in operations within a UK-listed engineering company, Gary has held leadership roles in both the UK and Australia. As a Director in Australia, he managed financial oversight, encompassing budget management, forecasting, and strategic financial planning. Gary further strengthened his financial and governance expertise through the AICD Company Directors course and an MBA (2003), equipping him with advanced tools for financial analysis and strategic decision-making.

For two decades, Gary has applied his expertise as a management consultant and a University of NSW MBA lecturer, specialising in managing change and implementing strategy. This extensive experience gives him a deep understanding of strategic execution grounded in financial analysis. His consultancy engagements span pharmaceutical, medical, and financial services sectors, and the Australian Stock Exchange, where he has implemented strategic changes driven by financial insights. A cornerstone of his approach involves rigorous stakeholder engagement, including in-depth interviews to analyse financial needs and align organisational strategies, ensuring proactive and transparent communication to maintain stakeholder buy-in.

Sport

In the realm of sport, Gary is a qualified Softball Coach with experience coaching players aged 9 to 60 and has been awarded coach-of-the-year twice. He has delivered specialised content for Softball Australia, showing his ability to effectively communicate and engage with stakeholders at state and national levels. His coaching experience has also honed his skills in conflict resolution and team building, which are critical for stakeholder management.

His involvement in sport includes playing club football in the UK. Also, for 10 years supporting his daughter's extensive participation in sports, such as football, AFL, volleyball (to state level), and softball (to state level). This broad experience provides him with a deep understanding of stakeholder perspectives, particularly the needs of players, parents, coaches, and other members of a sporting community.

For over 15 years, he has served on his club softball committee, playing a key role in financial planning, budget oversight, and ensuring the club's long-term financial sustainability. This dedicated involvement has honed his ability to manage stakeholder relationships and contribute to the effective governance of a sporting organisation.
